Ingredients for 0

  • Pork shoulder, 4 lbs cut into 6 steaks

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 3 teaspoons salt

  • 1 teaspoon five spice powder

  • 1 teaspoon white pepper

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

  • 3 tablespoons honey

  • 5 cloves of garlic minced

Directions

  • Step 1

Prepare pork shoulder. Cut into steaks about 1.5 inches wide.

  • Step 2

Prepare marinade by combining all remaining ingredients. Mix well and set aside 4 tablespoons and store in the fridge- this will be used to baste the pork when finishing.

  • Step 3

Put the steaks in plastic bags or a dish with the marinade. Mix well and refrigerate overnight.

  • Step 4

Prepare sous vide cooker, heating to 140F. Seal steaks properly and put in the water. Cook for 8 hours.

    • Finishing Steps

    • Step 0

When finished cooking, remove steaks and arrange on a baking tray. Brush with the saved marinade and add additional housin sauce if desired.

    • Step 1

Heat oven to brook and broil pork until crisp and bubbly, about 7-10 minutes.

    • Step 2

Serve with soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and roasted sesame seeds for dipping. Enjoy!
