Ingredients for 4
2 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
8 to 10 corn tortillas
Toppings of your choice, such as diced tomatoes, sliced avocado, shredded cheese, and chopped cilantro
Directions
-
Step 1
Attach an Anova Precision Cooker to a vessel of water and set the temperature to 135°F (57°C).
-
Step 2
In a small bowl, mix together the chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
-
Step 3
Season the ground beef with the spice mixture, making sure to evenly coat the meat.
-
Step 4
Place the seasoned ground beef into a vacuum-seal bag or a freezer-style zipper-lock bag. If you're using a zipper-lock bag, you can use the water displacement method to remove the air from the bag. To do this, slowly lower the bag with the ground beef into the water bath, allowing the water pressure to push the air out of the bag. Then, seal the bag. If using a vacuum-seal bag, seal with a vacuum sealer.
-
Step 5
Once the water bath has reached the desired temperature, carefully lower the bag with the ground beef into the water. Make sure the bag is completely submerged, and clip the top of the bag to the side of the container to keep it from floating.
-
Step 6
Cook the ground beef for 1 to 2 hours.
-
Finishing Steps
-
Step 0
After the cooking time is up, carefully remove the bag from the water bath and pat it dry with a paper towel.
-
Step 1
Heat a skillet over high heat and add the olive oil.
-
Step 2
Once the oil is hot, carefully remove the ground beef from the bag and add it to the skillet. Break it up with a spatula and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until browned and crispy.
-
Step 3
While the ground beef is cooking, warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet or on a griddle until they are slightly charred and pliable.
-
Step 4
Assemble the tacos by placing a spoonful of the cooked ground beef onto each tortilla, and adding your desired toppings.
-
Step 5
Serve the sous vide ground beef tacos immediately. Enjoy your delicious and flavorful sous vide ground beef tacos!
