Sous Vide Wheat Berries
Wheat berries make for a wholesome side dish that’s perfect to prepare in a precision cooker. Once they finish their long, slow cooking, the nutty grains can form the base of just about any salad or stirred into soups and stews. I love to eat wheat berries on their own so I can fully appreciate their earthy complexity.
You can also cook this recipe in one quart-sized canning jar. Place the ingredients in the jar instead of a zipper lock bag in step 2.

Ingredients
- 3 cups water
- 1 cup wheat berries
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Set the Anova Sous Vide Precision Cooker to 180ºF (82ºC).
- Combine all ingredients in a large zipper lock bag. Seal the bag using the water immersion technique. Place the bag in the water bath and set the timer for 3 hours.
Finishing Steps
- When the timer goes off, remove the bag from the water bath, and drain off any remaining water in a fine-mesh strainer. Transfer wheat berries to a bowl and serve.
