How to: Anova Cooler Cooker

If you're serious about your sous vide cooking then this is the tutorial for you. It won't take long and it's minimal work but the results will be incredible. Using any old cooler and a 2.5 in hole saw with your favorite drill and you're cooking with extreme precision in about 10 minutes! Converting your cooler to an Anova Precision Cooker container will ensure you have the best heat retention and maximizes the efficiency of your cooks!

  1. Take any cooler you'd like to cut a hole in. The Anova machine recommends not heating anything larger than 30 quarts but since this cooler is so well insulated you can go larger and still maintain incredible heat accuracy.
  2. To plan out the positioning, you can take the bracket that holds your Anova Precision Cooker and using a sharpie you can establish a template or you can do what I do and just go with it.
  3. Upon drilling, you may need to stop while drilling the hole because the cooler could be like mine and come apart in layers. If that's the case, remove any layers stuck in the hole saw and start back up until you break all the way through

Additional steps

  1. If you'd like, you could take some medium grit sandpaper and smooth out the edges a bit but there should be plenty of room for the Anova Precision Cooker to fit perfectly.
